Kumbura means rice paddy fields in Sinhala, and this lovely peaceful haven, perfectly perched on a small elevation, enjoys lovely views across an extensive field.

Access to the house is via small village paved track that invites you to feel you are entering a new world. One where the stresses and hassles of the world you are leaving do not exist. As you meander through a small village you arrive at the white washed columns that whisper a gentle welcome. You are arriving somewhere special.

The stone drive curves through the trees to a circular parking area with steps leading up to the house on one side. The garden stretches out on two of the other side with the rice fields emerging on 3 sides.

Once on the top step your gaze is drawn through the double doors to the pool glistening the far side of the house reflecting the coconut palm and merging with the rice fields beyond. Walking in you will immediately appreciate there has been lots of attention to the design. This is a beautiful home.

The furniture is all beautifully designed & hand made using local craftsmen. A sleek timber desk and chair framed by an Alter table and floor lamps on one side whilst on the other are two extra long sofas facing each other & a hidden TV.

There are four ensuite bedrooms in all. Three bedrooms are in the main house with the 4th bedroom, a garden suite, set slightly apart.

Carry on thorough the hall, with gorgeous tiles, onto the covered verandah & the pool.
On one side of the pool is the kitchen and covered dining veranda whilst on the other is the 3rd bedroom - a guest double - and a covered sitting area. The idea of the design is that the parents can be relaxing & still have a clear line of sight to the pool.

One of the bedrooms has an interconnecting bathroom with the twin bedroom making it perfect for families with small children.

Kumbura is surrounded by beautiful cultivated rice fields & there are sun loungers, garden chairs as well as a hammock to choose from where you wish to relax, enjoy the breeze, marvel at the birds & watch the farmers work their magic.

In all Kumbura is an oasis. Heavily influenced by Sri Lankan heritage, the house design appreciates that the real beauty is nature & you are invited to relax in her warm and safe embrace.
